Chiki Kuruka teaching a dance class at Rupaz Fun And Fitness Centre

We’ve heard many dance fitness classes but none as intense and as fun as Chiki’s. People were drenching in sweat & out of breath but still going back set after set.  First Friday of June was absolutely epic and it is all thanks to the amazing Chiki Kuruka.

For those of you who might not know her, ( just incase you been living under a rock😅), Chiki Kuruka is one of Africa’s top wellness trainers and dance choreographer extraordinaire. She’s taught in over 7 countries and got nominated for awards in all. She’s also one of the first dancers to do a countrywide tour with Redbull Dance Your Style. And this last Friday we had the tremendous honor of having her teach in our Glow In The Dark Fitness Challenge 3rd Edition.

The Run Down

Chiki Kuruka arrived on location an hour and a half before class time. Checked out the space and did a little meet and greet with clients at the facility.

Her class started at 8pm with a brief but beautiful introduction and her class rules and then her set began. She introduced us to Soca and Carnival , her specialties. Taught us some sick sexy moves too 😎. The class was high energy from start to finish. Amazing to see her in her element. Really. Such a force of energy.  She had people out of breath, laughing, cheering, running around in circles…. you guys, it was a site to see‼️

Divided the class into team green and team orange and asked whichever team was on the sidelines to cheer on members from the opposite team as they ran through their workout. We thought that was beautiful. It was  all love, good energy, positive vibes.

The class ended with us dancing to Too Easy by Bien and Dj Edu. Bet you didn’t know you could stretch and dance at the same time 😌😎.

Everyone who wanted a photo after class got one. She even did a tiktok challenge with one of the class attendees.

Chiki Kuruka is so nice & down to earth and not in any way bougie or dismissive as the media so often portrays her to be.We loved her vibe but more so, we liked her message; stay positive, be happy, show love, keep your mind right and dance to be free not just for technique.

Watch out for her interview and the after movie on our YouTube Page and social media handles. She talks dance, hobbies, skin care and dishes out some really good advice.
